Gopi Thotakura became the first Indian space tourist and the second Indian to venture into space on Blue Origin's NS-25 mission.
The NS-25 mission, completed on May 19, 2024, was Blue Origin’s seventh human spaceflight and the 25th flight for the New Shepard program.
Thotakura was part of a six-member crew, including Mason Angel, Sylvain Chiron, Kenneth L. Hess, Carol Schaller, and Ed Dwight.
Phil Joyce, Senior Vice President of New Shepard, thanked the astronauts for advancing the mission to build a road to space for Earth's benefit.
Thotakura shared his passion for flying and emphasized the mission's goal to protect Mother Earth and make space tourism accessible.
Each astronaut carried a postcard to space for Blue Origin's foundation, Club for the Future, aimed at inspiring future generations to pursue careers in STEAM.
