A 51,200-year-old cave painting of a wild pig and human-like figures was discovered in a limestone cave on Indonesia's Sulawesi Island, making it the oldest known cave art, surpassing the previous record by 10,000 years.
The age of the painting was determined using laser analysis of calcium carbonate crystals on the pigment, highlighting early narrative storytelling in visual art.
