  • The film festival was first held in 1946 and is now considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
  • Chidanand Naik's short film 'Sunflower Where the First to Know' was a joint collaboration of four students of a year-long programme of FTII's television wing.
  • The film was directed by Chidanand S Naik, filming was done by Suraj Thakur, editing was done by Manoj V and sound was handled by Abhishek Kadam.
  • All these students have passed out of FTII in 2023.
  • It was the first time that a film made by a student of a one-year television course has won an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
