Chidanand Naik and Anasuya Sengupta created history at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.
Chidanand Naik's short film 'Sunflower Where the First to Know' won the La Cinefe Award for Best Short Film.
Anasuya Sengupta became the first Indian to win the Best Actress Award for the film 'Shameless'.
The film festival was first held in 1946 and is now considered one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.
Chidanand Naik's short film 'Sunflower Where the First to Know' was a joint collaboration of four students of a year-long programme of FTII's television wing.
The film was directed by Chidanand S Naik, filming was done by Suraj Thakur, editing was done by Manoj V and sound was handled by Abhishek Kadam.
All these students have passed out of FTII in 2023.
It was the first time that a film made by a student of a one-year television course has won an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
