  • Akshdeep Singh and Priyanka Goswami have won the National Race Walking Championships.
  • India’s Akshdeep Singh and Priyanka Goswami qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics and World Athletics Championships 2023 after meeting the qualifying standards in the men’s and women’s 20km race walk, respectively, at the National Open Race Walking Championships 2023 in Morabadi, Jharkhand.
  • In the men’s 20km race walk event, Akshdeep Singh clocked 1 hour 19 minutes 55 seconds, a new national record, to win the gold medal.
  • In the women’s 20km race walk event in Morabadi, Tokyo Olympian Priyanka Goswami, who won the 10,000m race walk silver medal at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, clocked 1:28:50 - five seconds slower than her own national record - to take top spot.
  • These athletes will now have a chance to win medals in the 35 km race walk events at the '2024 Paris Olympics'.
