Akasa Air, India’s newest airline launched in 2020, has announced its inclusion in the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which represents over 360 airlines globally. Founded by Vinay Dube, the airline had received an investment of $35 million from the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala for nearly a 40% stake.
IATA member airlines collectively handle more than 80% of global air traffic. Akasa Air qualified for the IATA Operational Safety Audit in December, a crucial safety benchmark and mandatory requirement for membership.
