  • Chennai-based startup Agnikul Cosmos launched the world’s first space rocket, named Agnibaan, featuring a single-piece 3D-printed engine made from Inconel, a corrosion-resistant alloy.
  • The rocket, powered by a semi-cryogenic engine, was successfully launched on its fifth attempt, marking India’s first fully indigenously designed and manufactured rocket capable of carrying up to 300 kg to low earth orbits (LEO).
  • Agnibaan, a customizable two-stage rocket, utilizes a plug-and-play configuration allowing expansion or contraction based on the payload.
  • It is powered by Agnikul's patented Agnilet engine, the world’s first single-piece 3D-printed engine, designed, tested, and manufactured in India, successfully test-fired in 2021.
  • Agnikul Cosmos is the second Indian private company to achieve a space launch, following Skyroot Aerospace.
