Recently the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways released the figures of people dying in road accidents in the country.
According to these figures, 1.68 lakh people died in road accidents in the country in the year 2022.
Apart from this, 4.45 lakh people were injured.
The number of accidents in India has increased by about 12 percent compared to 2021.
While the death toll has increased by 9.4 percent.
About 75 percent of the accidents that occurred in the year 2022 were due to speeding.
After this, 6% of the deaths were attributed to driving on the wrong side.
Drunk driving and using a phone while driving caused 4% of the deaths.
National Highways and Expressways contribute 32.9% of the total accidents.
State highways contribute 23.1% of the total accidents.
Other roads contribute 43.9% of the total accidents.
