The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology recently announced a new program under the India Semiconductor Mission.
According to this announcement, 'India Semiconductor Research Centre' will be established in the country in the year 2024.
This institute will be a premier institute among the country's growing capabilities in semiconductors.
It will be like IMEC (Belgium), Nano Tech, ITRI (Taiwan) and MIT Micro Electronics Lab, which are counted among the world's leading institutions in the field of cutting-edge technology.
In December 2021, the central government had announced an investment of Rs 76,000 crore to boost the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
Its objective is to make India a leading country in semiconductor research for the coming 10 years.
