  • It will be like IMEC (Belgium), Nano Tech, ITRI (Taiwan) and MIT Micro Electronics Lab, which are counted among the world's leading institutions in the field of cutting-edge technology.
  • In December 2021, the central government had announced an investment of Rs 76,000 crore to boost the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem in the country.
  • Its objective is to make India a leading country in semiconductor research for the coming 10 years.
