Recently the Union Defense Ministry has announced that military women will get equal leave for maternity and child care.
This proposal has been approved by Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
With the release of this rule, all women in the army will get equal leave, whether they are officers or working in any other rank.
At present women officers in all three services are eligible for 180 days of maternity leave.
Women officers adopting a child below one year of age are also eligible for 180 days.
Permanent Commissioned Women Officers are eligible for 360 days child care leave.
This will also improve the working conditions of women in the army and help in creating a balance between professional and family life.
