Aadhaar Authentication to Be Mandatory for Property Registration in Uttar Pradesh from Feb 1, 2026

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced mandatory Aadhaar-based biometric authentication for property registration, effective from 1 February 2026. Buyers, sellers, and witnesses will need to undergo Aadhaar verification at registration offices. The move aims to curb property fraud, ensure transparency, and create a secure digital trail in land transactions, according to the Stamps and Registration Department.
