A fossil unearthed in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, has been identified as belonging to a phytosaur, a 200-million-year-old semiaquatic reptile resembling modern crocodiles. Experts describe it as India’s first well-preserved fossil of its kind, a discovery of international importance. According to Professor V.S. Parihar of Jai Narain Vyas University, such fossils have previously been found only in England, making this a rare and significant find from the Jurassic era.
