Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer of 1987 batch TV Somanathan has been appointed as the new Cabinet Secretary, who will take up his charge from 30 August 2024.
TV Somanathan, a 1982-batch IAS officer of Jharkhand cadre, will replace Rajiv Gauba, the current Cabinet Secretary.
The Cabinet Secretary heads the Committee of Secretaries to the India Government and the officer holding this position has to play a key role on issues such as administrative advice, coordination between ministries and national security.
