  • The 11th edition of Exercise EKUVERIN-21, a joint exercise between India and the Maldives, was held on Kadhdhoo Island in the Maldives.
  • In the Dhivehi language (Maldivian language), Ekuverin means "Friends."
  • It is a language of the Indo-Aryan family. It's spoken in India, the Maldives, and Lakshadweep.
  • The exercise improves the Armed Forces of both countries' synergy and interoperability in terms of comprehending transnational terrorism on land and at sea, executing Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgency Operations, and sharing best military practices and experiences.
