The Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD) has identified significant lithium resources in Karnataka, including 1,600 tonnes of lithium in the Marlagalla area of Mandya district.
The discovery in Karnataka, along with ongoing surveys in Yadgiri, positions the state to significantly contribute to India's lithium resource base, which is crucial for technological and industrial applications, such as electric vehicle batteries.
