To apply for the post of Assistant, candidates must meet the following requirements as of February 1, 2026:
Age Limit:
Applicants must be between 20 and 28 years old. Specifically, they must have been born no earlier than February 2, 1998, and no later than February 1, 2006.
Standard age relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and up to 10–15 years for PwBD candidates.
Educational Qualification:
A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate is mandatory. Candidates from SC, ST, and PwBD categories only need a "Pass Class."
Additionally, candidates must have proficiency in word processing on a PC.
Language Proficiency:
Since Assistants work in regional offices, candidates must be proficient in the local language of the state or region for which they are applying. This means being able to read, write, speak, and understand the language fluently.
The selection process is entirely objective and conducted online, followed by a qualifying regional language test.
Preliminary Examination:
This is a 60-minute screening test consisting of 100 questions for 100 marks. It includes:
English Language: 30 questions (20 minutes)
Numerical Ability: 35 questions (20 minutes)
Reasoning Ability: 35 questions (20 minutes)
There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer.
Main Examination:
Shortlisted candidates from the Prelims sit for the Mains, which is the deciding factor for the merit list. It consists of 200 questions for 200 marks over a duration of 135 minutes:
Reasoning: 40 questions (30 minutes)
Numerical Ability: 40 questions (30 minutes)
English Language: 40 questions (30 minutes)
General Awareness: 40 questions (25 minutes)
Computer Knowledge: 40 questions (20 minutes)
Language Proficiency Test (LPT):
After clearing the Mains, candidates undergo an LPT in the local language. This stage is qualifying only, but failing it results in immediate disqualification, even if the candidate has a high score in the Mains.
