The application process is entirely online and can be completed through the official websites of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) at www.navodaya.gov.in or www.cbseitms.nic.in. The online registration for the lateral entry selection test for Class 9 began on July 30, 2025, with the last date to apply being September 23, 2025.
Step-by-step guide to applying:
Visit the official NVS website.
Look for and click the registration link for the "JNV Class 9, 11 lateral entry Registration 2026-27" in the "Candidate Corner" section.
Fill in the required personal details such as your name, date of birth, and other contact information.
Upload a recent passport-size photograph (10kb to 100kb), as well as signatures of both the student and the parent (10kb to 100kb).
Enter your academic information and review the form for any errors.
Submit the application and print the confirmation page for future reference.
Class: The candidate must be studying in Class 8 in a recognized school during the academic session 2025-2026.
District: The candidate must be a bonafide resident of the district where the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is located and must be studying in a school of the same district.
Age: The candidate's date of birth must be between May 1, 2011, and July 31, 2013 (both days inclusive).
Previous Attempts: The candidate must not have appeared for the JNVST previously.
Age criteria:
• The candidate's date of birth must be between May 1, 2011, and July 31, 2013 (both days inclusive). This is applicable to all categories of candidates including those who belong to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Verification of age:

The JNVST Class 9 admit card is expected to be released in January 2026. It will be available for download on the official NVS website and is a mandatory document for entry to the examination hall.
How to download your admit card:
Go to the official NVS website, navodaya.gov.in.
On the homepage, navigate to the "Important News" section.
Click on the link to download the admit card for Class 9.
You will be prompted to enter your credentials, such as your registration number and date of birth.
After entering the details, click on the download button.
Save and print the admit card. Make sure all the details on the card, such as your name, roll number, and exam center, are correct.
