World Athletics Championships 2022 begins in Eugene

  • The 18th edition of the World Athletics Championships has been started in Eugene, Oregon (USA) from July 15 until July 24.
  • This marks the first occasion the event will be hosted by the United States and a massive pool of athletes will be seen competing across 49 events.
  • Olympic javelin champion Neeraj Chopra is leading India
  • India has sent a strong 22-member contingent to the prestigious World Championships.
  • In all, 200 athletes from over 200 countries are participating in the World Championships in Athletics.
  • The representatives of the Indian side in the long jump are Murali Sreeshankar and Jessvin Aldrin. Priyanka Goswami is participating in the women's 20 km race.
