·       World Animal Day is observed every year on 4 October to raise awareness about animal welfare and mobilize a movement in favor of animals to ensure that the world is a better place for them to live in.

·       World Animal Day 2021 is a day to introspect the role of animals on the planet and realize that the extinction of various species can affect not only the ecological balance but also the livelihood of humans.

·       The theme of World Animal Day 2021 is "Forests and Livelihoods: Sustainable People and the Planet".

·       The theme of the year 2020 was "Man and Dog".

·       World Animal Day was first celebrated on March 24, 1925, at the Sports Palace in Berlin by cynologist Heinrich Zimmermann. Today, World Animal Day is celebrated on 4 October to mark the feast day of Francis Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
