· Daniil Medvedev of Russia won his maiden Grand Slam trophy by defeating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 in the US Open men's singles final at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.
· Second seed Medvedev dominated from start to finish to end Djokovic's bid for a calendar slam and 21st major.
· While Djokovic failed to become the third man after Don Buzz and Rod Laver to win all four majors in the same year, Medvedev made a stellar performance at the US Open with a memorable win. Medvedev broke in the first game of the competition and from there he remained in control the entire time.
