UNESCO honours world-renowned Kung Fu nuns for their contributions to martial arts education

  • The UNESCO International Centre for Martial Arts has awarded the prestigious Martial Arts Education Prize 2021 to the world-renowned Kung Fu Nuns of the Drukpa order of Buddhism for their brave acts of service.
  • The award recognises the Kung Fu Nuns' heroic acts of service and advocacy for gender equality throughout the Himalayas.
  • The Drukpa nuns use martial arts to teach young girls how to defend themselves, gain confidence, and take on leadership roles in their communities.
