· The "Sweet Cucumber" of Nagaland was awarded the Geographical Identification (GI) tag as an agricultural product under the provisions of the Geographical Indications (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999.
· Naga cucumber is known for its sweetness and unique green colour.
· It is rich in potassium and has low calories.
· Cucumber is not the first product from this tiny state to get the 'GI tag'. Tree Tomato (Tamarind) and the famous 'Naga Raja Mirch' both have got GI tag at the regional level as well.
· This fruit is the fifth largest cultivated area in Nagaland, and third in production.

v The GI tag is an important sign used on products with a specific geographical origin and reputation and reflects not only the authenticity of the product, but also the method in which it was made.
v Darjeeling tea got the first GI tag in India in 2004-2005.
v Karnataka has the highest number of GI tags i.e. 47 products followed by Tamil Nadu (39). Some of the major products from Karnataka that have got the GI tag are: Mysore Silk from Karnataka.
