MP High Court Declares Bhojshala as Temple

  • On 15 May 2026, the Madhya Pradesh High Court (Indore Bench) declared the Bhojshala-Kamal Maula Mosque complex in Dhar district a temple dedicated to Goddess Saraswati (Vagdevi). Justices Vijay Kumar Shukla and Alok Awasthi delivered the verdict.
  • The court quashed the 2003 ASI order restricting Hindu worship and referred to historical and archaeological evidence linking the site to a centre of Sanskrit learning. A scientific survey by ASI in 2024 found the structure built from parts of earlier temples. ASI will continue to manage the site.
