India, Singapore and Thailand carry out naval drill in Andaman

  • India, Singapore and Thailand have launched a joint naval exercise in the Andaman Sea to learn from each other's best practices.
  • The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Karmuk, a Missile Corvette built in India, is taking part in the third edition of the India, Singapore, and Thailand Trilateral Maritime Exercise SITMEX – 21.
  • SITMEX is being conducted annually since 2019 with the goal of improving interoperability and establishing best practices among Indian Navy (IN), RSN, and RTN.
  • The maiden edition of SITMEX was hosted by IN off Port Blair in September 2019.
  •  SITMEX-21 will fortify the long-standing bond of friendship and further enhance the cooperation between the participating navies towards augmenting the overall maritime security in the region.
