India’s first Food Museum launched in Thanjavur, Tamilnadu

  • Union Minister for Commerce, Industry, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal inaugurated launched India's first Food Museum at Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu.
  • The museum was established in Thanjavur by the Food Corporation of India (FCI) in collaboration with the Visvesvaraya Industrial and Technological Museum of Bengaluru because Thanjavur is the birthplace of the FCI on January 14, 1965.
  • The museum cost Rs 1.1 crore to build.
  • The museum will showcase the cereals found in India and explain the food culture around the world.
  • Currently, India is the world's fifth-largest agricultural exporter.
