  • The Global Hunger Index ranked India at 101 position out of a total 116 countries.
  • India is one of the 31 countries where severe hunger has been identified.
  • The report has been jointly prepared by Irish aid agency Concern Worldwide and German organisation Welt Hunger Hilfe.
  • Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Nepal, all of which border India, have "alarming" hunger levels, but have fared better than India, with ranks of 76, 92, and 76, respectively.
  • In the Global Hunger Index (GHI) released last year, India was rated 94th out of 107 countries.
