EU Includes India in Marine Products Export List

  • The European Union has included India in its updated list of countries eligible to export marine products, ensuring Indian seafood exports continue smoothly beyond September 2026. This decision provides major relief to Indian exporters and maintains access to a key high-value market. The EU accounts for around 19% of India’s seafood exports, making it the third-largest destination.
  • India was earlier at risk of exclusion due to stricter EU norms on antimicrobial residues. Inclusion was granted after review of India’s strong food safety standards, effective residue monitoring systems, and compliance with EU regulations.
