Delhi govt launches 'Shramik Mitra' scheme to ensure benefits reach construction workers

  • The Delhi Government launched the 'Shramik Mitra' scheme to ensure that government benefits reach construction workers in the national capital.
  • The scheme was unveiled in the presence of Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi.
  • The Delhi Shramik Mitra Yojana will see the state government reach out to construction workers and inform them about various welfare programmes.
  • A total of 800 'Shramik Mitras' will visit construction workers' homes and inform them about the schemes launched by the Delhi government in their best interests.
  • The Delhi government offers various types of assistance, including Rs 3-5 lakh for house construction, Rs 30,000 for maternity benefits, Rs 20,000 as a loan and Rs 5,000 as a grant for the purchase of tools, Rs 1 lakh for workers' natural death and Rs 2 lakh for workers' accidental death, and others.
