Badminton World Federation announces players of the year

  • The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has awarded Danish Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen and Chinese Taipei silver medalist Tai Tzu-Ying Player of the Year honours.
  • Due to the disruption caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, the world governing body of badminton considered performances from November 1, 2019, to October 31, 2021, for this year's awards.
  • Axelsen was named Male Player of the Year after his incredible run since the Barcelona Spain Masters in February 2020.
  • Olympic champion Li Yangwang Chi-Lin of Chinese Taipei, together with his partner Ji Jia, were named the best men's doubles pair.
