Senior IAS officer Shri Saurabh Vijay assumed charge as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on May 18, 2026. A 1998-batch Maharashtra cadre officer, he brings rich administrative experience from both state and central government roles.
UIDAI manages Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identity programme. Vijay, a civil engineering graduate from IIT Delhi, has held key positions in Finance, Planning, Tourism, Medical Education, Higher & Technical Education, and Public Administration. His appointment is seen as a significant boost to India’s digital governance initiatives.
