  • The RBI’s Monetary Policy Committee cut the repo rate by 25 basis points, lowering it from 5.5% to 5.25%, effective immediately, as announced by Governor Sanjay Malhotra.
  • The committee had paused rate changes in the last two meetings.
  • Earlier, between February and June, the MPC had reduced the repo rate by 100 bps across three successive cuts, bringing it down from 6.5% to 5.5%.
