PV Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian badminton player to win the Japan Open. She defeated Japan's Akane Yamaguchi in the women's singles final in Tokyo with a convincing 21-17, 21-17 victory. The achievement also marked Sindhu's first Japan Open championship.
