The Opposition alliance on Tuesday announced former Supreme Court judge B. Sudershan Reddy as its joint candidate for the vice-presidential election. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge described the election as an “ideological battle”, stressing that opposition parties unite whenever democracy and the Constitution come under attack. The nomination signals a strategic move to counter the ruling party’s influence in the high-profile election.
