The Ministry of Jal Shakti and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 1 June 2026 in New Delhi to leverage satellite technology and space-based applications for water resource management.
The agreement, signed during a national workshop at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, will focus on 24 research areas, including reservoir monitoring, river flow analysis, satellite-based water quality assessment, and macroplastic detection in water bodies.
It also launched the MAHA on Water programme and the Bharat Water Innovation Network for startups and MSMEs.
