Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kawananakoa, the so-called last Hawaiian princess whose lineage included the royal family that once ruled the islands and an Irish businessman who became one of Hawaii’s largest landowners has died.
She was 96.
James Campbell, her great-grandfather, was an Irish businessman who made his fortune as a sugar plantation owner and one of Hawaii’s largest landowners.
Hawaii is a state in the Western United States, located in the Pacific Ocean about 2,000 miles from the U.S. mainland.
It is the only U.S. state outside North America, the only state that is an archipelago, and the only state geographically located within the tropics.
