The United Nations General Assembly has proclaimed May 24 as the International Day of the Markhor, aiming to raise awareness and promote conservation of this iconic species.
The markhor, a majestic wild goat with spiral-shaped horns, is a symbol of strength and resilience in Central and South Asia, despite facing threats such as habitat loss, illegal hunting, poaching, and climate change.
