India Tests Nuclear-Capable ICBM

India conducted the maiden test of a nuclear-capable Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) on May 8, 2026, from Abdul Kalam Island, Odisha.
The missile was launched over a 3,560 km danger zone in the Bay of Bengal.
Followed the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation glide weapon trial on May 7.
Abdul Kalam Island is DRDO’s primary missile test facility. ICBMs have a range exceeding 5,500 km.
