India has witnessed a record rise in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) filings, with total applications increasing ~20% YoY to 7.5 lakh. Trademarks led with over 5.5 lakh filings, while patent applications crossed 1.1 lakh, with 61.9% by Indian residents, reflecting a shift toward self-reliance in innovation. Other IPRs, including designs, copyrights, and geographical indications, also rose. Initiatives like the National IPR Policy 2016, NIPAM, SPRIHA, international collaborations, and AI-powered tools such as IP Saarthi are driving IP awareness, protection, and commercialization across India.
