India has been re-elected to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Council for the 2025–26 biennium, securing the highest votes in Category B with 154 votes at the Assembly session in London. Category B includes nations with major interests in global seaborne trade. The newly elected Council will meet for its 136th session on December 4. India reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening global maritime cooperation, aligned with its long-term vision to become a leading maritime nation under initiatives such as Vision 2047.
