India ranked 125th out of 197 countries in the Global Passport Index 2026 by Global Citizen Solutions, slipping one position from last year. However, its composite score improved to a record 45.1. The index evaluates Enhanced Mobility (50%), Quality of Living (25%), and Investment Opportunities (25%).
India ranked 136th in mobility (visa-free access to ~26 destinations), 118th in quality of living, and 94th in investment. It performs better than neighbours like Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan but trails China (104th). Sweden topped the index.
