The Ministry of External Affairs has appointed senior diplomat Prashant Pise as India’s next Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman. A 1995-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Pise is currently serving as Additional Secretary (Emigration Policy and Welfare) in the MEA. He will succeed Godavarthi Venkata Srinivas, a 1993-batch IFS officer.
With extensive experience in the Middle East and North Africa, Pise has served in Cairo (Egypt) and Tripoli (Libya). His current role focuses on Indian diaspora welfare and migration diplomacy, particularly relevant for the large Indian community in Oman and the Gulf region.
