Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched AI-driven weather products on 12 May 2026, including the first AI-enabled “Forecast of Monsoon Advance” for 16 states and over 3,000 sub-districts, and a 1-km resolution rainfall forecast pilot for Uttar Pradesh.
Developed by IMD, IITM Pune, and NCMRWF, these systems provide forecasts up to 10 days in advance. They support agriculture, disaster management, and governance with precise, impact-based information, reflecting significant improvements in India’s forecasting capabilities under Mission Mausam.
