The Government of India, through the Tea Board, is implementing the Tea Development & Promotion Scheme (TDPS) to enhance Assam’s tea production, quality, exports, and small grower empowerment. From 2021-22 to October 2025, ₹150.20 crore was utilized for Assam-specific activities including replantation of 437.42 Ha, formation of 318 SHGs, 143 FPOs, 26 FPCs, 31 mini tea factories, and 1343 capacity-building programs. Exports grew from $751.07 million in 2021-22 to $923.89 million in 2024-25, reflecting TDPS’s success in boosting productivity and farmer incomes.
