Google has unveiled plans for its largest data centre project in Asia, to be established in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The $6 billion (approx. ₹51,000 crore) investment includes building a 1-gigawatt data centre along with necessary energy infrastructure. Of this, nearly $2 billion (₹17,000 crore) will be allocated to create renewable energy capacity, supporting Google’s commitment to sustainable and clean data infrastructure. The project is poised to significantly boost digital capabilities and green energy in India.
Dr Srinivasa Kumar Tummala took charge as Secretary of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, succeeding Dr M. Ravichandran.
