Major General (Retd.) Bhuvan Chandra Khanduri, former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and senior BJP leader, passed away on May 19, 2026, in Dehradun after a prolonged illness. He was being treated at Max Super Speciality Hospital. His son, Manish Khanduri, confirmed the news.
A veteran Army officer who rose to the rank of Major General, Khanduri was known for his disciplined leadership and clean image. He served as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand twice (2007-2009 and 2011-2012) and represented the Garhwal constituency multiple times in the Lok Sabha. Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum.
