Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer from the Manipur cadre, has been appointed as the new Deputy National Security Adviser (NSA) with responsibility for internal security matters. Singh, who retired in December 2024, brings three decades of Intelligence Bureau (IB) experience and has previously headed both the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). As Deputy NSA, he will oversee sensitive internal issues, including Jammu and Kashmir, Naxal insurgency, and militancy in the Northeast.
