First-Ever Investors’ Meet in Lakshadweep to Boost Fisheries Sector

The Centre, in collaboration with the Lakshadweep administration, organised the first-ever investors’ meet on fisheries and aquaculture at Bangaram Island to unlock the Union Territory’s vast blue economy potential. With investments worth about ₹519 crore envisaged, the meet focused on tuna exports, value-added seafood, cold-chain infrastructure and sustainable fishing. Union ministers highlighted policy reforms in India’s EEZ, while investors explored opportunities in deep-sea fishing, seaweed farming and aquaculture development.
