DRDO Successfully Tests TARA Weapon System

DRDO and the Indian Air Force successfully conducted the maiden flight trial of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) weapon system on May 7, 2026, off the Odisha coast. Released from a Jaguar aircraft, TARA is India’s first indigenous glide weapon system. It converts unguided bombs into precision-guided munitions with enhanced range and accuracy. Developed by DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat, the system strengthens the IAF’s stand-off strike capability. The trial validated its aerodynamic performance, navigation, and guidance architecture.
