Deepak Dhar Receives 2026 Dirac Medal

Indian physicist Deepak Dhar was named a recipient of the 2026 Dirac Medal on 8 August 2026.
The award was given by the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Trieste, Italy.
Dhar shared the medal with Bernard Derrida, Marc Mézard and Haim Sompolinsky.
Deepak Dhar is known for his work on the sandpile model and statistical mechanics.
He became the first Indian to receive the Boltzmann Medal in 2022.
He received the Padma Bhushan in 2023.
