Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in as Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10, 2026, at Chennai’s Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium.
The ceremony was attended by Rahul Gandhi, film celebrities, alliance leaders, and thousands of supporters.
TVK emerged as the single largest party with 108 seats; the coalition crossed with 120 MLAs support from Congress, CPI, CPI(M), VCK, and IUML.
This ends nearly six decades of DMK-AIADMK two-party rule.
Nine TVK leaders, including ‘Bussy’ N. Anand and Aadhav Arjuna, took oath as ministers. No Congress minister in the first phase.
