Bengaluru Records Highest Suicide Rate

Bengaluru has recorded the highest suicide rate among major Indian cities, close to 20 per lakh population in 2022-2024, according to NCRB’s ADSI reports. In 2024, the city reported 2,403 suicides. Though Delhi recorded more total cases (2,905), its rate was lower at 9.8 per lakh due to larger population. Family problems, illness, and economic stress are major causes. The data has highlighted growing mental health challenges in urban India, especially among migrants facing work pressure and isolation.
